You know you love show tunes! And you'll love this special treat coming up on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 2 pm.
The DeWitt Summer Theatre Co. presents “Heart and Music”, a musical revue conceived and directed by Alex Heetland at Trinity Lutheran School.
Join us for a fun-filled afternoon of Broadway show tunes and antics as five characters strive to get a musical revue ready in only a week. Selections include favorites such as “You’re Just in Love,” “I’ll Never Fall in Love Again,” and “Putting It Together,” and many more selections presented by Minneapolis performers Alex Heetland, Rachel Vickers, Rebekah Henrickson, C. Ryan Shipley, and Alyssa Seifert, all backed up by a swinging combo of piano, bass, and drums.
A free-will donation at the door goes to benefit Trinity Lutheran School. Sponsored by Thrivent Financial.
After receiving numerous positive comments on the single Worship Service format on Sunday mornings, and experiencing the joy of a fuller sanctuary at this service, the Board of Elders voted to establish the single Sunday Worship Service as our standard going forward. To ensure sufficient time between the end of the service and beginning of Sunday School/Bible Class, the starting time of the Sunday service will change to 9:00 AM. Starting the first weekend after Labor Day (September 7th and 8th), Sunday Worship Service will start at 9:00 AM with Sunday School starting at 10:30 AM. Communion will continue to be offered at both the 6:00 PM Saturday evening Worship Service and the 9:00 AM Sunday morning Worship Service. No less than one service each month will be contemporary in nature at the discretion of the pastors. Further clarification will be forthcoming after Pastor Renfro assumes his duties.
Join us for the church picnic and meet our new Senior Pastor, David Renfro, and his family, and honor Rev. Dr. Dean Rothchild for his dedication and willingness to serve as our interim senior pastor. The picnic/potluck will be at 11:00 a.m. Sunday. Dinnerware will be provided. Families with last names from "A" to "O" should bring a casserole or salad, and names between "P" and "Z" should bring a dessert. If you don't have time to cook, please come anyway!
Voters met on Wednesday and voted to extend a call to Rev. David Renfro of Missoula, Montana. Please pray for God's guidance for Rev. Renfro.
We will meet at 6:30 p.m. tonight (Wed., June 26) to consider from a list of five candidates for senior pastor. If you haven't been to a call meeting, this is your chance to be heard! If you're wondering how the process works, here's more information.
Do you drive past and wonder why all the cars are in the church parking lot? Many weekdays you will see this over the summer, because the Cedar Rapids Science Center is renting the school for their summer programs.
We're excited to have them as our guests! We both win: the Science Center doesn't have to build a facility for summer camps, while we receive rent for the summer months and free advertising for the school. Getting more children and parents into the building is always good!
The voters are scheduled to meet on Wed., June 26 at 6:30 p.m. to vote on a call for senior pastor. Please join us as we consider a list of five candidates.
